Tucked away from the busy streets, is a quaint Japanese Yakiniku bar / restaurant, southern end of CBD. “Niku” (肉), meaning “meat” in Japanese and Yakiniku is a Japanese style of barbecue where diners cook thinly sliced meat and vegetables over charcoal grill. The mood lighting with its backdrop of neon light artwork of characters and elements of anime, Totoro from Studio Ghibli. Niku House has its exclusive focus on Wagyu beef, the rare and esteemed Stone Axe Wagyu, an award-winning Wagyu of high quality, free from artificial growth hormones and fed quality produce grown by Australian farmers. Also to add is the charcoal used is fruit hardwood which gives off the sweeter bbq smokey taste. The serves of beef and meats here are exceptional quality! Also offers a selection of seafood, like tiger prawns with chili butter and scallops with truffle salt, this was delicious! Bonus if an RAA member, you’ll receive a complimentary beverage (Saki range) and choice of seaweed salad or kimchi side, when you order the Chefs Choice Wagyu Platter. Attentive staff, impeccable service ads to the dining experience here, definitely a must try for a romantic date or a special occasion.

The food was great overall. We did have an issue with the BBQ not cooking fast enough, which left us with a lot of raw beef waiting and a very hungry group. Luckily, the staff handled it well, replaced the BBQ, and were kind enough to give us extra time. The yuzu sorbet was amazing!

Cool aesthetic, relaxed vibe, friendly service and incredible food. Only drawback was that we ordered straight away and it took an hour for our food to come out - but the food is worth the wait! Maybe just book a bit earlier than you usually would. I think perhaps the atmosphere could be a bit better if the lights were more dim. Absolutely loved all of the food - especially the pork! Overall a great evening!

My brother-in-law treated us to dinner here, and it was fantastic! The place has a trendy vibe with cool neon lights throughout. It’s on the pricier side, but the meat cuts were absolutely delicious. They also have a bar that I believe serves cocktails and other drinks. Definitely recommend this spot for Japanese BBQ if you’re looking for something special!

My partner and I dined here on a Friday night, no booking required. We ordered the wagyu set for 2 which included a wagyu platter (chef’s selection), button mushrooms with garlic butter, lettuce, miso soup, and rice. The wagyu was so good we had to order an extra serving of flap meat. The sauces really complemented the meat. Service was execellent—friendly staff, they changed our grill twice, very attentive. The place wasn’t busy considering it was a Friday night. Would definitely go back the next time we’re in Adelaide

This is one of the best bbq experiences in Adelaide. The venue is unique, modern and done tastefully. We went on a Thursday night and had the option between two buffet offerings. There was a tonne of food but don’t order too much as there will be additional charges for any waste. The meat was terrific and service was friendly. We’re already planning a return
